News for a New Year

Well, another year has come and gone and a new one just beginning. Last year was filled with families joining together and big changes. I also did some shooting for my church as they moved into a new building, of the recent snow and on my Disneyland trip, you can see some of those shots at the end of this post.
I am currently booking weddings, family sessions, headshots and Senior portraits for the next year. I am excited to report that so far, I have 1 wedding booked and 2 maybes, but then again, the year is just beginning so who knows how many more will come. I hope to complete the project that I started last year which I hope to use as a marketing tool, so I am still looking for models. I am hoping to trade modeling time for photos, so please let me know if you are interested. Some of the things in the works are new business cards, post cards & flyers, an
online portfolio and possibly a Facebook page. I will be posting more about those when the time comes. This year, I would like to start a photo of the month or week post to showcase new work and expand my family sessions to include maternity and children as well as couples. I will also be listing my new pricing for this year today. I have new additions to the products I'm offering, so please take a look at that as well.
Thanks so much for looking! Have a great day!

Tis the Season to be Jolly!!!

Christmas time is truly my favorite time of the year! All the decorations and lights are put up, Christmas trees are picked out and brought home, everyone is happy and cheerful, the Christmas music is playing everywhere and the holiday baking and eating begins! My birthday being in the midst of the festivities could also have something my love for the season... Just a thought!
With the holidays just around the corner what a perfect time for family portraits to send out in cards or as gifts to loved ones! Nothing shows you are loved than by a beautiful picture of the ones closest to you that you can enjoy all year long. My on location portraits are great for capturing the personality of your family. I am also going to be promoting my special holiday pricing! All portrait packages are 15% off and include 10 holiday cards of your choice (more cards can be added for an extra charge).
Here are some examples of the cards that you can choose from. I am also flexible with colors, text and designs of your choice to help make them more personal. Thanks for looking!!!

Morgan's Going Away Present

My dearest friend, Morgan and her little family moved to Oklahoma last month and as a little going away gift, I wanted to photograph them.  It was so much fun!  We shot at her in-laws home and it was just lovely!  Her little boy, Titus, is such a sweetheart and looks so much like his parents!  I really enjoyed photographing them, especially since Morgan was my very first model when I starting photographing almost 10 years ago.  Working on these photographs has been somewhat bittersweet for me as it made me realize how much I already miss her.
Thanks for looking and I hope you enjoy!!! To see more of their images check out my flickr page!

Jacqueline, All Grown Up

My best friend Morgan's little sister, Jacqueline, who I've known since she was growing in her mother's womb, recently decided that she wanted to branch out her acting skills from the stage to the screen (commercials, TV shows, can any one say Disney Channel??) and called me to do her headshots.  As she is like a little sister to me, especially since I don't have one, I was very excited to do them for her.  I had such a good time photographing her and I wanted to share some of my favorite images from the shoot!  Enjoy!!!  To see more, visit my Flickr page.  Thanks!

Inspirations

When I first decided to start this blog, I said that I would write about things that inspire me, as well as my work. I have yet to do so, and lately it could be that I've been having a hard time creatively. It feels almost like writer's block, but a little different. I have a couple of ideas for projects that I'm not ready to share at the moment, however I do have that lack of inspiration.

So I think if I list some of the things that inspire me, I might get it back. 1) An overcast day, right after or right before the rain and the smell of the rain in the air and with everything looking so green and alive. 2) Bird's eye views of big cities like Paris or New York, they look so peaceful and still from that vantage point even though you know there is so much life and commotion below. 3) Beauty, the kind that shines from the inside of a person so brightly that it reflects in their face and all they do. 4) White Christmases, even though I've never experienced one, the idea of it is so beautiful and peaceful. 5) Really good books with stories that are very moving and characters that seem so alive that you'd want to be them or know them. 6) Love; the kind that lasts forever; the kind that would cause someone to lay their life down for a friend; the kind that is heartbreaking, like loving someone you could never have. 7) My husband. He knows what he wants in life and works so hard to build his strengths and talents to achieve his dreams. So many people lose sight of their hopes and dreams, but knowing he has to at least try brings hope. And fear, for hope and fear are inseparable. 8) People who fight against injustice. We need more of them in the world. 9) Walt Disney and the legacy he created. He had a dream to create something worth while, that would leave an impression on people and that's what he did. Disney creates hope, happiness and innocence in an age of the not so innocent.

Wow, I feel inspired already! Sometimes we take for granted the little things in life like our inspirations and its good to reflect on them every once in awhile. You never know the emotions that you'll stir up!
Feel free to comment on what inspires you!
